Gripping stuff

A new craze is sweeping across World of Warcraft and it is fabulous.

The trouble begins with the Deathknight spell Death Grip:

Death Grip
30 yd range
Instant35 sec cooldown
Harness the unholy energy that surrounds and binds all matter, drawing the target toward the death knight and forcing the enemy to attack the death knight for 3 sec.

Sounds fun, and yes it is. It is also an important recipe for disaster in what it one of the largest bugs since Corrupted Blood. Originating in this thread, the practice has spread quickly, spanning from Durotar to Booty Bay. The Maiden's Fancy is now a free-for-all of Games Master disruption.

So what the hell? I have no idea how this works, but I can understand why. Standing on moving terrain (boats, zepplins, whatever) causes the character to inherit the movement from the vessel is a presumably hacky way. Death Grip interacts with this in an unforseen way, properlling the target sideways at a good speed. Through terrain and deep underground. The victim cannot move themselves or relog the character, resulting in a GM having to be informed t of sort it out.

Yes, the GMs are having to deal not only with the idiots, but also the griefers, and they are making it clear to Deathknights that this practice is considered a serious offence.

My advice? Duel someone and give it a whirl while you can get away with it - nothing is more hilarious than the messages you will get from your victim, especially if they are 'new'.

Just what the doctor ordered after a hard day's work.
